It’s a Specialized Dolce Elite – bought second-hand from Kijiji. I love Kijiji! Saved me some money, plus the new bikes I was considering did not come in colors I liked. I hadn’t realized how few options you got when buying fancy, expensive road bikes. Each different level comes in one or two colors at best. So even when you consider say 3-4 brands, if you are on a budget you might only get 8 choices of color. And trust me, the color variations are pretty basic: blue, grey, white, green, different blue, different grey etc. Blech. But while my pretty new bike is white it has PINK accents! And since I am a girly-girl I do like me some pink accents. Now I just need some pink water bottles to carry along with me and I’m good to go. Already have the pink workout clothes after all.
I have to admit though, while I’ve been working very hard at putting in time on my bike, my treadmill and even making it to the pool a couple of time a week, I’ve been feeling a bit down lately about my triathlon dreams. You see, I’m SLOW. Yes slow in all caps. I look at the past years’ results for triathlons in my area and I’m so not going to be keeping up with almost anyone. When I decided to train for a triathlon I was truly inspired by the book Slow Fat Triathlete, but while people will say that “anyone” can try for a triathlon and “lots” of beginners aren’t fast, I don’t know that that is truly the case here in Alberta. This makes me feel like I’m going to look foolish, despite how hard I’m working to improve my fitness level. But last night I was perusing Twitter (I hardly ever post, but I sure do spend plenty of time reading there still!) and I read a great tweet:
Motivating isn’t it?! Thanks Shawn – I definitely needed the inspiration – now I better get some work done so I can get in a run today!
